Speaking To Our Dealers

Why does Vertex only sell through dealers?

This is a question we are asked all the time. People are surprised that we don't sell direct, believing that they would surely benefit from lower prices whilst achieving the same results. However, in our experience, direct sales of our products would not achieve the same results at all, because the real objective is solving your system problems. And that usually involves quite detailed one-to-one discussion about the particulars of your system, the environment (supports, room, mains etc), how it's performing at the moment and what you want to achieve - something that is very difficult to do without dedicated dealers. In a way, the dealers are like additional Vertex staff, ensuring you get the guidance and service that you need to make sure your potential Vertex investment, and your whole system, performs to your complete satisfaction.

Another problem is that people are fully prepared to buy their source components, amps and speakers from a dealer, but want to randomly buy their cables, supports and mains products (usually from the web) without any advice or guidance - as if they are just an afterthought, and 'getting a bargain' is the priority. But eventually they realize they haven't really got a bargain at all, because their system is performing poorly. Its actually those 'accessories' (and a structured and coherent approach with them) that can make or break a system more than almost any box of electronics. A good dealer can really help you to avoid these costly mistakes.

Choosing a Vertex Dealer

Firstly, all our dealers are fair, conscientious people trying to do a very good job. They will advise you with the utmost care and attention with the sole aim of giving you outstanding service. They do want to make sales of course - they have to earn a living (so do we) - but they are never after a quick buck by forcing you into an early or inappropriate purchase. Why would they, it doesn't make business sense to disappoint or undermine your trust at the first (or any!) hurdle. No, their aim is the same as ours really, to understand what your needs are, analyze the situation at depth, then work out a structured upgrade path THAT YOU CAN CLEARLY SEE IS VALUE FOR MONEY. Honestly, we never hear of any customers, once they engage properly with a Vertex dealer, who are nothing short of truly ecstatic with the results they are finally getting from their systems. Just check out the customer testimonials.

Now, when choosing a dealer, you might want to find someone that's in your area - and that is going to add convenience. But don't be put off if you have not got a Vertex dealer locally, because all our dealers will support you pretty much wherever you are on this planet. We also know that some customers prefer working with dealers who are like-minded and have similar tastes in kit and music. But rest assured, they all know how to get outstanding results using Vertex, and we're confident you will be satisfied with the service you will get from each and every one of them.

First Contact

If you are reading this, then you will probably have also read Vertex reviews, spoken with friends who have Vertex or maybe seen us at a show. Hopefully that has whetted you appetite and now you are going to call a Vertex dealer. When you start that conversation the dealer is going to question you about your system itself, obviously, but be prepared to start talking about things in a way you might not be fully expecting. For example, if you are new to Vertex and phone up a dealer and ask to compare and contrast a bunch of interconnects, including the Vertex samples, he will likely tell you that you are starting in the wrong place (because damage outside the signal path invariably needs to be treated first). Or you tell him that your system is already excellent on paper and doesn't really need anything new, but the room acoustics are completely to blame - then he tells you that might not be the case at all because you really don't have a coherent cable and support strategy - and that's much more likely to be the culprit. And there are dozens more examples like that. But the critical point here is don't be put off, be open minded and have confidence - the Vertex strategy really is so good, and your dealer knows it - he is going to blow you away provided you give him a chance. To help this process further we have also written a book called 'Systematic Approach', which goes right through the whole Vertex strategy. Ask your dealer to send you a copy.

Work In Depth

We're at the really important bit now. Discussions, analysis, detailed demonstrations and home listening will likely need to be fairly intensive. Your dealer has to really understand what's happening in your system, and then you probably need to understand it too. He will then start to show you what the Vertex products can do and where they should be used. He will also show you where to start first, and why, and then how to keep building on the improvements in a logical manner. This is particularly important; ensuring that you start to move the system towards a state of balance, rather than incorrectly boosting the capabilities in one area of the system and over-stressing other parts even more.

Listening is going to be the most exiting aspect of this whole experience. We've all done it; chasing improvements in sound quality and never really achieving what we think we are after; reading so many reviews and wondering why it never seems to happen for us. In the past, system building was so poorly understood and so poorly described that none of us ever had a chance, and all we ever heard was woefully underachieving systems. But let your dealer fully explain about all those detrimental interacting effects, and then demonstrate the massive improvements in sound quality you get when you stop them; you are going to be amazed before you are even halfway through.

But what sort of improvements are you going to hear? Well in every single respect the improvements are going to be massive. But most importantly, Vertex equipment brings a fundamental change than can't really be described in sound quality terms at all. It takes you completely away from any thoughts about hi-fi, takes you into the world of excitement, surprise, emotion, suspense, peace and a sense of soothing serenity from the subconscious knowledge that you have truly experienced the event that happened on that day, in that studio, with those artistes.

Following On

Once you get started with Vertex and work with one of our dealers, you are on an upgrade path that is going to give you staggering results. And, here's another bonus - as you move forward and start to cure those system faults the results are more sort of multiplied rather than just added - 'more than the sum of the parts' and other such expressions are always in the feedback we get. No more diminishing returns here, quite the opposite in fact.

Vertex customers build up great relationships with their dealers, and continue making cost-effective investments with the dealers guidance, usually ending up going right through their system with Vertex in the end. And they are truly very happy to do so.
