The biggest show now in the UK is The National Audio Show at Whittlebury Hall. NAS website.
And we'll be there on September 25-26, in Syndicate room 21 on the first floor.
You will have noticed though, from the title of this update, another name - Aletheia. Well, Aletheia is a new brand of electronics that we are working on at Vertex AQ. The plan is that we will develop and produce a range of electronics with a very different approach - the fusion of good electronics design with all the Vertex principles of anti RFI and anti microphony, down to a component-by-component level (ie, each chip, capacitor, resistor and so on...).
So the plan at the show is this. We will have a very high quality, but relatively simple system. We will have the complete Vertex architecture in place to make sure that it performs to its best in the show environment. And the front end will be a high-quality CD transport feeding the Aletheia dac1 technology demonstrator!
Unlike previous years though, we are not going to be doing so much of the major Vertex AQ 'in and out' demonstrations, but we will still be able to discuss and answer your questions about Vertex products, and do some simple demos. Instead we plan to focus more on the Aletheia dac1, with discussion and explanation about our design approach, and plenty of time to listen too.
For more info on Aletheia and the dac1 see here.
There are some other significant things going on at the show of importance as well.
The knowledge Alliance (Vertex AQ, Nordost and Acuity) will be giving update briefings on its progress this year on new measurement techniques. This will take place in the Hockenheim room 5pm Sat and 10.30am Sun. Seating will be limited, and timings strict, so you are advised to get there early.
Next of interest, Alan Sircom and Pete Trewin of Hi>Fi Plus magazine are doing system setup demonstrations in room 102 (first floor). The demo is covering some of the fundamental issues of architecture and system interaction - but very much non brand-specific, and from a journalist's viewpoint!
Finally, singer songwriter Jess Childs will be performing at various times throughout both days in the Chequers Courtyard. Jess came to our attention a couple of years ago in Wales (where Vertex is based) and we have (jointly with Nordost) brought her into the audio scene with the aim of raising her profile and launching her as a recording artist. Please go and have a listen and see what you think.
